About Fred
A talented golf professional with a great track record and a real ability to teach.
Fred Jewsbury comes from a great golfing dynasty. His grandad, Cyril Jewsbury was a County player, Captain and President, playing a great game well into his 90’s. His father, John Jewsbury, took up the game aged six, joining Ladbrook Park and remaining there to this day, becoming first County Boys Chairman and then County President, playing to an excellent standard. His cousin, Carl Suneson, played on the European Tour and Challenge Tour for 18 years, with one major win and topping the Challenge Tour rankings in 1999, and is just embarking on the Staysure Tour for 2020.
With such an illustrious background, it was no surprise that Fred took up the game, starting with a handicap of 36 and bringing it down to 5 by his fifteenth birthday and going on to win the Ladbrook Park Club Championship at the age of 19. A regular in the Warwickshire County 1st team and qualifying for the national county finals, he achieved a handicap of plus three and was selected to represent the Midlands Golf Association against the South West. Achieving Amateur World Ranking at the Logonda Trophy with a top 6 finish enabled him to play in some the biggest amateur tournaments, including the St Andrews Links Trophy, The Portuguese Amateur and The British Amateur.
Fred now plays in PGA pro Ams and national events and has had success in both. With 2 professional wins under his belt he’s keen to add more in the future.
